With the season premiere now available on Disney+, let's dive right in—here are a couple of theories stemming from episode 1, all revolving around Kang the Conqueror and our expectations for him and his variants in this new season.

Loki Season 2 Theories

Loki's predicament is clear—he's trapped within the Time Variance Authority (TVA) after being pruned. The identity of his pruner remains a mystery, but we may unravel that in episode 2, or so we hope. For now, our focus is on Kang the Conqueror. Here are three theories we've brewed up while dissecting episode 1:

1. The Return of He Who Remains

Yes, we know He Who Remains met his demise in season 1, and technically, he can't make a return. But let's not forget the time-travel element here. Loki  Episode 1 hints at journeys to the past, so while He Who Remains may not appear in the present, there's a chance he could be dealt with in the past. Timey-wimey stuff, you know?

2. An Influx of Kang Variants

Keeping up with the MCU's multiverse intricacies can be challenging, but we've got your back. If you stayed through the end scenes/credits of 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,' you already got a glimpse of Victor Timely and Rama Tut alongside numerous Kang variants. While season 1 shed light on some variants, the post-credit scene suggests there are more out there. Our theory? Expect a new (or old, depending on how you look at it) Kang variant to join the lineup, likely playing a significant role in Loki's TVA adventures.

3. A Kang Variant Behind Loki's Pruning

Our strong suspicion is that a Kang variant is the mastermind behind Loki's pruning. Kang may be the seemingly good variants' creator, but lurking beneath them is an evil, formidable villain. Kevin Wright, a producer on Loki, hinted at Victor Timely's pivotal role in this season. This suggests a possible plot twist involving Victor Timely and the prune incident. After all, it's not impossible for things to go "wrong" in the multiverse, leading to unexpected consequences. We'll be eagerly watching to find out!

4. Loki's Plan

This theory stands out upon consideration. In that future scene, Sylvie calmly states, "There you are," as if she expected Loki. It's conceivable she collaborated with a future Loki to draw the present-day Loki to that moment, or she may have mistaken him for the future Loki. The identity of the one who pruned present Loki remains a mystery, but it's entirely plausible that a future Loki orchestrated a scheme to guide his past self and subsequently pruned himself.

5. Mobius, the Covert Rescuer

Future Mobius may have been privy to this intricate plan all along, given his determination to save Loki. He didn't panic when Loki disappeared; instead, he clung to the Time Stick, believing Loki would "make it back." During his pursuit with the Temporal Aura Extractor, he repeatedly requested more time, as if he knew Loki would return. Perhaps future Mobius intervened to ensure Loki had sufficient time to return. It's possible he initiated the call and saved his friend's life.

6. Involvement of a Kang Variant

While this theory may seem unconventional, it's worth exploring. We already have confirmation from the show's producer that a specific variant, Victor Timely, will play a significant role this season. He mentioned, "Timely becomes a really big part of the team." This underscores the importance of variants, leaving room for the intriguing possibility that one of Kang's variants could be the one responsible for pruning Loki.
